Spine is ribbed with elegant gilt tooled work, and gilt title on spine. Early 1821 edition. Boards have minor shelf wear, and the leather is cracked where boards join spine area (boards are still attached, however). Beautiful marbled endpapers. Previous owner's ex-libris plates on front paste down endpapers. Also, there are previous ownership stamps and ex-libris on verso side of front free endpapers. Pages are beautiful, and in excellent condition, with very minor foxing. Tightly bound gatherings of pages with clean interior having no markings, writing, underlining, or highlighting in margins or text block. Volume 2 has an edge tear in the outer margin of page 11, text completely unaffected.
