Being 90% silver, mercury dimes are amongst the most widely collected coins in the numismatic industry. Since these coins are 75+ years old, quality mercury dimes are becoming harder and harder to come by. It is history that you can hold in your hands. With that being said, don't let this opportunity pass you up! Coin Highlights: Mercury dimes contain 0.07234 troy ounce of silver The composition of all mercury dimes are 0.900 silver, 0.100 copper The diameter of all mercury dimes are 17.91 mm (0.705 in) The mass of all mercury dimes are 2.500 g Years of minting: 1916-1945 The designer of the obverse and reverse was Adolph Weinman Perfect for any collection, add this mercury dime to your cart today! Mercury Silver Dimes - Background & Design: Weinman’s design featured on the obverse a young woman wearing a cap with wings on her head. On the reverse the dime had a bundle of sticks with an axe blade all tied together with straps, making the ancient symbol of a fasces, which was surrounded by an olive branch. Mercury Dime Grading Scale & Guidelines: As understood and in relation to condition notes and guidelines, a mercury dime in "Extremely Fine" condition has slight wear on the very high points of the coin. The details are sharp, and all the design elements are well defined. Some traces of mint luster may still exist. Obverse: The details on Lady Liberty's head are mostly visible but show signs of wear. Her cheek, midpoint of the wing and neckline may show flatness. The majority of the hairline on her forehead will be visible. Some residual mint luster may still exist. Reverse: A large majority of the rods in the fasces should be defined and separated. The horizontal and diagonal bans are visible but may show wear.
