Description: 2004 New Zealand Brilliant Uncirculated Coin Set For sale is a New Zealand 2004 Brilliant Uncirculated Set which includes an exquisitely crafted five dollar coin depicting the critically endangered Chatham Island Taiko.Completing the set are the six 2004 New Zealand circulation coins. Each coin is struck to a brilliant uncirculated finish, with the obverse side featuring Ian Rank-Broadley's image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The Chatham Island Taiko is the world's rarest seabird with a total world population of around 120 individuals. The nocturnal seabird measures on average 38 cm from bill to tail and weighs approximately 475 g. It is dark sooty grey-brown all over except for the underparts from breast to undertail which are white. The distinctive bill is black and the legs and feet are pink with some black on the ends of the toes and webs. Found only on the Chatham Islands, 800 km east of New Zealand, it was believed to have been extinct for 111 years until it was dramatically rediscovered by New Zealander David Crockett and a band of volunteers on New Years Day 1978.
