Description: This vintage hand knotted mid-20th century area rug from Western Anatolia boasts a curvilinear medallion in ivory against a field in burgundy, filled densely with swirling leafy vines and floral heads in bright light blue, sage green and ivory. The four arabesque corner pieces in bright celadon green are quite large and adorned with large swirling angular leaves and floral heads. Their elegant arabesque outlines seem to create a space similar to a symmetrical archway at both ends of the field. The tri-layered border suite in ivory and pale yellow sets a welcome contrast in color with the rest of rug and echoes the floral theme. This one of a kind West Anatolian rug is hand knotted with soft, organic sheep's wool on cotton foundation, has medium pile, is sturdy and in good condition except for very slight wear at the top and bottom of the field.
