Description: AHM / Rivarossi / IHC CLOSE COUPLING Adapter [ HO ]This is a repair part for a broken coupler boss (on the above trucks)The Boss1 may also be used as Close-coupling Adapter for AHM, Rivarossi, IHC Passenger Car TrucksMiscellaneous Railroad Company Boss1The Passenger cars couple much closer together and can still navigate turns and crossoversThe illustrated cars are on a 24 inch radius curve.The test layout has #6 crossovers.McHenry MCH-52 was used on the modified passenger car trucks.The Coupler-Boss1 installed shortens the coupler length ≈ 2.85mm Overall reduction of 2 modified cars is 5.7mm.Installation is fairly straight-forward.After removing the trucks, remove the wheels, and then break-off the coupler bossTrim the remaining void with a hobby knife to make the hole rectangular.Glue the Boss1 into the void with a cyanoacrylate based adhesive.On our test cars, the brake shoes were bent out a tad and reinstalled 33 inch metal wheels (4-wheel trucks)This raises the car 0.023 inches ( 1/64th inch = 0.0156 inches ) The test IHC 85ft heavyweight car has 36 inch wheels reinstalled into the trucksThe Boss1 was originally invented to repair the IHC 3-axle truck as reflected in the label.
