We believe this was printed possibly during Victorian times, when sayings such as the one on this length were popular and used for Christmas packages and tree decorations. So simple, so charming and so very Victorian, and still so very useable! We loved this simply printed phrase, repeated across the 6 yard length, could not find the exact origin of it but know enjoying ones 'fruits of labor' is a phrase from several chapters in the Bible, and loved the "happy" added in, making this all the more a festive, holiday phrase! A darling item to wind through a small tree or a wreath as decoration, and also something wonderful to use to decorate a package with, or as a hair ribbon for that special girl to wear at Christmas festivities- the possibilities are endless and delightful! With over 6 yards of this, you could get really creative in several unique projects, certainly. This was found in a box of small Christmas decorations in the multi-generational home of Christmas collectors, who had the money and staff and time to buy, over many, many decades anything and everything related to Christmas that they loved and wanted, and then never used most of it! They just liked to shop and have the servants store it all safely! We love finding these petite treasures from so long ago, and Santa loves seeing them again after so many, many years. We know he will chuckle and smile when he sees this, for Santa loves his antique Christmas- all of it! MEASURES: A very scarce 6+ YARDS of 1/2 inch wide printed cloth ribbon, rustically printed in soft red wonderful type. We feel this was made in America, and charmingly printed with a great happy saying, darling little flowers and leaves added to complete the festive yet folk art look! The red is aged and soft, not due to sun, as it's been in a box since forever, but from the old inks used. This is very Early Americana-Victorian in look and style. Not flashy, not over-the-top, but charming, innocent, and from a past time when Christmas was a very different holiday and enjoyed very simply and gratefully.
