ThanksElecampane (Inula helenium) is a big leafed, beautiful yellow flowered, striking plant that loves its space in the garden. One of my favorite things about this plant is that it is a self-seeder so I know she will be around for quite some time and I encourage her to spread wherever she likes. This plant is one I wait patiently for because you only want to harvest roots that are at least two years old. Nature does nothing if not teach you patience. If you knew me, you’d know I need my lessons. 😉Elecampane is a plant that has been used for a very long time as a lung tonic. Its superpower is its ability to move mucus out of the body. It works especially well for situations that may be chronic in nature but will also work for the common cold if needed. Wet, mucus conditions that may have turned into an infection with green/yellow mucus will be helped with this plant because of it’s antibacterial and antiseptic nature.Secondary are its abilities to stimulate digestion if needed and support the lymph system because of its high inulin content. The tincture of this plant is high in volatile oil, so you many find the tincture somewhat hot and very, very pungent in nature. For this reason, if you are giving it to little ones, I would mix it with a teaspoon of honey, to make it more palatable. This is an alcohol tincture. Dosage: 1-3 drops, 3 times daily. Listen to your body and direct your dosage from there.Returns: I am not accepting returns because of the resale safety issue of the products. Even though the bottle caps may be sealed, the stoppers bulbs are soft rubber thus not tamper proof; and oils and ointments are not sealed. Returns would have to be disposed of and that would be wasteful and not respectful of the plants medicine. Thanks everyone. Note: The above information is for educational purposes only. If you are currently using prescription medications, please consult a physician, local herbalist, or other health professional before using your tincture, as some herbs have contraindications with pharmaceuticals.
