Description: Four 100 Year-Old Solid Oak And Leaded Glass Cabinet/Bookcase Doors 14 7/8" W x 44 7/8" H x 3/4" D I am offering four solid oak and leaded glass bookcase doors from the circa-1916 house where I grew up in South Bend Indiana. The house is located in the Lincolnway East Historical District and was built in 1916 with extensive, beautiful oak trim including built-in bookcases on either side of the entryway between the living and dining rooms. (see 1951 picture of the bookcases - the little boy is me!) My parents bought the house in 1948 just after I was born and lived there until the early 1980's. Sometime in the mid-'70's, my mother decided to "modernize" the decor and paint-over all that beautiful woodwork. Fortunately, she also decided to remove the bookcase doors, saving them from the paint job. When my parents retired to North Carolina, I saved the bookcase doors, thinking I would use them in one of my home remodeling projects that never developed. So here they are, ready for you to enjoy in your home. These doors were built to last by true American craftsmen who took pride in their workmanship. For being 100 years old, these doors are in excellent shape. The golden finish is clear and bright. All the joints are solid, tight and secure. The leaded glass is also tight and secure as new with one exception noted below. All the hardware is still attached - it has never been removed since it was built 100 years ago! You could hang these doors as they are tomorrow with no problem. Everything is original; these doors have never been re-varnished, restored or repaired while in my family. Door 1 has two cracked glass panes - one in the small square corner pane and several cracks in a larger pane in the lower center section. In both cases, the glass is intact. There is also a missing piece of molding at the bottom of the door. (See picture) Door 2 glass is perfect! Door 3 has one long narrow glass panel with 3 small cracks radiating from one point. The glass remains intact. (See picture) Door 4 had something heavy sit on top of it in storage, causing the leaded glass to sag in the center and causing several glass panes to crack and break. (See pictures) These doors represent a truely rare "barn find". You will not find antique oak and leaded-glass doors like these in this good original condition again. Take advantage of this opportunity to own and display a piece of history before the door closes behind you! SHIPPING:I offer free local pickup. If you wish to have the doors shipped, you will need to make arrangements for packing and shipping with a local pack & ship company (FedEx Pack and Ship, UPS Store, Westside Mail Center, PostNet, etc.) in the Surprise, Arizona area. I will deliver the doors at no additional charge to the store you specify for packing and shipping.
