Description: For sale is a vinyl record by Harry Belafonte titled "The Midnight Special", originally released in 1962 by RCA Victor Records, manufactured by Belafonte Enterprises, Inc.. In the dead wax between the labels and the last tracks are the matrix numbers 7-S/8-S, followed by an upper case "T", indicating that early stampers were used to make this record at Columbia Records' pressing plant located in Terre Haute, Indiana. These are hallmarks of state-of-the-art engineering, sought after by collectors and music lovers for their superior sound quality. I bought this record used, professionally cleaned it on my VPI HW-17 machine and immediately put it into an archival inner sleeve. This protects the integrity of the vinyl and any original inner sleeve(s) or insert(s) that may have come with the release. The inner sleeve is graded as Excellent because of two wrinkled corners and foxing around the edges. This inner sleeve has an offer for the exclusive Midnight Special songbook that was available by using an enclosed envelope that was attached to the inner sleeve. This envelope is not included with this listing. The laminated cover, which still has shiny, vivid colors, is graded as Very Good Plus because of corner blunts, edge rubs, faint ring wear and a crease across the lower left hand corner on the front cover. The spine has a little color loss at the corners and the top seam has small dents with color loss too. The vinyl is visually graded as Near Mint with surfaces that are still shiny and bright, without any surface scratches, smudegs or spindle marks on the labels. I'm play grading it as Very Good Minus because of a lock-up at the beginning of "Makes A Long Time Man Feel Bad", which I had to advance by lifting the stylus and because of occasional ultra low level surface noise, that does not over-power the singing or music. It played all the way through, before and after this lock-up, but there was one pop on Side One. It's been played only on Audiophile equipment since I've owned it and still has a lot of life yet. This would make a great addition to anyone's collection. I have a lot more Folk records, as well as albums of all different genres, listed in my Ebay store. Please take a look. They're predominately Near Mint. Thank you for viewing my listing. I've been collecting records for about 50 years now and have always cleaned them and put them away carefully in plastic inner sleeves. Over the years I've used Dust Bugs, Disc Washers and rner blunts, ring wear, edge rubs with a small 1/2" tear on the bottom of the left hand cornerhave finally invested in a professional VPI record cleaning machine. Now that I'm retiring, I'm selling my very esoteric collection. I'm not a professional grader of records, but will use record guides, as well as my personal experiences as a basis of my grading all records. Since grading is subjective, I will be conservative. I offer discounts for multiple sales. Photos are of the actual item for sale, not a stock photo. Please review all descriptions and photos because I do not accept returns. Thank you for looking!
