Description: This seems to be an unbelievably rare, true very first edition (pre-Grosset & Dunlap) Maida book. I cannot find ANY pictures of any Maida books that look like this one bound in leather and cloth by B. W. Huebsch. Unfortunately it is not in the greatest condition, but given the popularity and collectability of Maida books, and the $100-1000+ prices of other Huebsch books, I am starting this high. It is Maida's Little House by Inez Haynes Irwin. It appears to have a leather-like binding with cloth front and back glued on. The publisher is B. W. Huebsch, Inc. New York and is dated MCMXXI. Gertrude Huebsch (relative of publisher?) illustrated the frontispiece. The hard cover is very worn as shown. There is writing on the binding indicating it was once a library book. Inside, some of the pages are separated from the binding, have browning, study pages with worn edges, and some water staining. Book has musty old book smell. It does not seem want pages are missing, ripped (other than worn edges and corner of one) or written on or marked up; they are just water stained, browned, worn edges. I will attach as many pics as possible showing condition. Last pic is of the article I found after much research confirming that Huebsch was indeed the original publisher of the early Maida books. Please feel free to ask questions and educate me on it and its value if you know something about it. This belonged to a collector who recently passed away. Please see pics closely for all details. I will ship via Priority Mail from a smoke-free, one-dog home. I try to accurately describe all flaws, but if you purchase and find I have omitted something important from the details that I was unaware of, please just let me know!
