Every show has been listened to for this purpose. In many cases I will tweak the audio if I can, or edit together the best quality parts of multiple copies of the same show. I do eliminate shows in which I feel the sound is too poor to be enjoyable for listening. Only in very rare circumstances, when the show is extremely hard to find will I include shows with poor sound. Of course, these are vintage shows, so some imperfections should be expected. *I try wherever possible to find the most unusual and hardest to find shows for each star and I update my sets regularly. *In the case of stars who appeared in a high volume of shows, I will offer multiple sets to keep costs low, but variety of shows high. A great show. The film starred Barbara Stanwyck and Burt Lancaster. 1 hour. CD #2 MGM Theater of the Air “Love is a Headache” (1951 – comedy) – Hard to find! Joan stars in this original comedy of an actress who is forced to adopt two children. A cute show. 1 hour. CD #3 Lux Radio Theatre “She Knew All the Answers” (1943 – comedy) – Joan stars opposite Preston Foster & Eve Arden in this story of a young woman who get a job as a secretary in order to impress her fiancé’s family, but ends up falling in love with her boss. Both Joan and Eve reprise their roles from the film of the same name, which also starred Franchot Tone. 1 hour. CD #4 Screen Guild Theater “Mr. and Mrs. Smith” (1942 – comedy) – Hard to find! Joan stars opposite Robert Young and Ralph Bellamy in this classic comedy about a couple who find out their marriage isn’t legal. The film starred Carole Lombard and Robert Montgomery. 30 minutes. Old Gold Comedy Theater “Hired Wife” (1945 – comedy) – Joan stars opposite Robert Paige in this story of a secretary who marries her boss in order to help him with a business deal. The film starred Rosalind Russell and Brian Aherne. 30 minutes. CD #5 Hollywood Star Time “The Woman in the Window” (1946 – suspense) – Joan stars opposite Herbert Marshall in this story of a man who accidentally gets mixed up in murder. Joan reprises her role from the film of the same name, which also starred Edward G. Robinson. 30 minutes. Theater of Romance “One Way Passage” (1945 – romantic drama) – Joan stars opposite Humphrey Bogart in this story of a dying woman and a condemned man who meet onboard an ocean liner and fall in love. A very interesting pairing of these two stars who never appeared together on film. The film had starred Kay Francis and William Powell. 30 minutes. CD #6 The Jack Benny Program “From San Diego Marine Base” (1942 – comedy) – Joan joins Jack Benny for a funny chat with the gang. 30 minutes.
