Taylor Scott who served on Major General George Pickett’s Staff, to Lt. William L. Ficklin of the famous Black Horse Cavalry (Co. H, 4th Virginia Cavalry). This item is fresh from a Lt. William L. Ficklin (Black Horse Cavalry) estate containing many Fauquier County, Virginia documents. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of history. Major Robert Taylor Scott, C. S. A. of Warrenton, Virginia, b. March 10, 1834; Died August 6, 1897. Major Scott was educated at UVA, 1851-54; studied law and was admitted to the Fauquier bar. In 1861 he entered the C. S. Army as Captain, Co. K., 8th Reg., VA. Inf. In 1862 he was appointed Major and Quartermaster on the Staff of General George Pickett, serving through the War. He was elected a member of the VA Constitutional Convention, 1867-68, and of the Virginia Legislature, 1882. In 1889 he was elected Attorney General of Virgina for four years, entering upon his duties as such, Jan. 1, 1890. He was a member of the law firm of Brooke & Scott of Warrenton, VA, and later Scott & Scott of Richmond, VA, his son Richard being associated with him.
