LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin was a German-built and -operated, passenger-carrying, hydrogen-filled, rigid airship which operated from 1928 to the most successful airship ever built. LZ-130 Graf Zeppelin II was the last of the German rigid airships built by Zeppelin Luftschiffbau during the period between the World Wars. The Graf Zeppelin II was virtually identical to the Hindenburg, and was originally designed to use hydrogen as lifting gas. It was built to replace the aging LZ 127 Graf Zeppelin on the South American transatlantic route while the Hindenburg would continue flying the North American route.
