Description: Steve Fisher, Winter Kill Dodd, Mead & Co., 1946 First edition. Hardcover in the dustjacket with the 2.50 price present. Dustjacket heavily edgeworn, as pictured, with chips and creases. Textblock mildly toned. Inscribed by the author to Lew Borzage, producer of That’s My Man (1947), which carried the working title Gallant Man, was co-written by Fisher, and is referenced here. Lew Borzage’s stamp appears on the first free endpaper, half-title, and contents pages. Unfortunately, someone markered out both names in the inscription, as pictured. Both names are barely legible, and the inscription remains unobscured: “[For Lew, ] Best wishes to a very swell guy. Here’s hoping our venture on Gallant Man makes everybody very happy! [Steve Fisher] Mar. 19, 1946” Steve Fisher wrote many screenplays in post-war Hollywood, but is best remembered as the author of the novel I Wake Up Screaming, adapted into the 1941 film also known as Hot Spot. A very cool piece for the film noir collector. Not a book club edition, not an ex-library copy. All books with dustjackets ship in fully removable, adhesive-free dustjacket covers.
