Description: TREMENDOUS MAPS!! HUGE DETAILED REPORT!! ONLY ONE I'VE EVER HAD!!This is USGS Professional Paper 228, Geology and Geography of the Henry Mountains Region Utah. Published in 1953, this is a scarce and interesting work, seldom seen on Ebay. This report consists of the 234 page book and a huge stack of 22 map plates, many of which are full color. Among these are giant maps and large panel diagrams of intersecting cross sections. This report examines the complex geology of this region, where well-bedded sedimentary rocks were intruded by granites and volcanic rocks, pushing up the formations and forming sills and dikes. It is amazing geology and makes for some gorgeous geologic maps. The text describes all the formations, structures, processes and features of this huge area in detail. It contains lots of photos and diagrams as well. This would make a great guide to hiking in this area, or just some fantastic arm chair geology going through the many maps. I haven't even provided pictures of all of them. The largest maps are over four feet tall and 26 inches wide! There is so much to look at! As always read the condition notes. The back cover with map pocket is detached.Expert packing assured. Shipping weight is four pounds. The recent increase in postage rates was pretty big.
