ASTATIC, an American company founded in Youngtown Ohio, has been both an innovator and highly-popular brand in the world of microphones since the mid-30's. They built microphones for the military, ham operators, public address, live performers, AND especially made their mark in the mid-70's during the CB craze when most of those "good buddies" on the Citizens Band were talking on Astatic microphones. This DN-200 is a fine example of Astatic's mid-1940's design and build integrity, with a robust cast-metal/art deco casing. It has been completely refurbished, cleaned, rewired, repainted and clear coated, mounted on what was once a custom array, and added vinyl NBC letters. Of course it sounds excellent with strong output. (Check out the voice sample on the listing video.) The base of the mic had the larger pipe thread, so we've installed the proper thread adapter allowing this mic to mount to any standard 5/8"-27 thread. The mic head's clutch mechanism holds the tilt position nicely without slipping down, and the older style riveted Astatic badge is sharply readable. It's all mounted to an elegantly vintage desk stand for a total height of 14.5". The sale also includes a new 5 foot cable, with a 1/4" male plug on each end.
