Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE I am offering this vintage 3rd Rail Sunset Models Brass O scale Union Pacific #4007 4-8-8-4 Big Boy steam locomotive. I have the original yellow 3rd Rail box in EX/P7 condition with an EX protective Styrofoam case. I also have the original shipping box/master carton, marked Sunset, with a partial invoice dated 8-23-95. There is also a 3rd rail note dated June, 1995 about some maintenance and another note about the 15th Annual Buy-Sell-Swap Meet in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio on November 11, 1995. No instructions, however, I took a picture of an instruction page that I found online. Maybe it will help. I obtained the loco at an Ohio Estate Auction, so I don’t know its history. I love Big Boys and this one is a beauty; however, it does have some issues (see more details below). I tested the loco on a 12’ test track (no curves) with my ZW transformer. I immediately heard engine sounds and chuffing as it moved. It ran fairly well in F-N-R. Bell & whistle sounded on cue. It has a strong whistle. Headlight did not come on. Magnetic knuckle coupler on rear of tender worked when tested manually. I did not test the smoke unit – I turned it off. NOTE: I also tested the loco using a small MTH transformer. It seemed to have an issue with receiving a signal to change directions. It would stick in N quite a bit. Sounds, bell and whistle sounded just fine. Could be a problem with my MTH transformer. The loco is a little dusty with light rail time. The paint, for the most part, is EX. Here are the issues I found: - Front right corner ladder needs re-soldered (see PIC close-up) - Right side of rear truck on engine shows paint dings/scratches (see PIC close-up) - I can see what looks to me like tiny specs of brass showing through the paint on the left side tender trucks (sorry I don’t have space for a PIC) - The engine is missing the “solid draw bar pin” according to “Royz Trains,” a 3rd Rail repair shop in Michigan. NOTE: Scott Mann @ 3rd Rail said in response to my request for the part: - I am sure we can come up with the part you need… Or you can buy some 2.6mm and or 3mm screws and use that. A much cheaper solution. I can’t find any online pictures of what this solid draw bar pin should look like and how it would hook up to the tender. I came up with my own temporary solution in order to test the loco (see PIC close-ups). The tender bar hooks on to the rear bar of the engine truck. My trifocal vision and arthritis make it difficult to work on tiny projects and see every detail. Please check the pictures for yourself. I plan to ship in the master carton. It has lots of tape on it; but, is solid enough for shipping. If you want it shipped in another outer box, I may have a problem finding a proper box. I may have to buy one and bill you for it. If you do want another box, DO NOT PAY THE EBAY GENERATED INVOICE. I will need time to obtain a box and send you a corrected invoice. If you do pay the eBay invoice, I cannot ship in another box per eBay requirements. The package is quite large and heavy at 22-23 lbs. in a 31” x 17” x 9” box; therefore, combined shipping would be extremely difficult/expensive. I will ship insured with signature confirmation. Make sure you check the SHIPPING, RETURNS & PAYMENTS tab for your best shipping cost option. I can email additional pictures if necessary. Please be specific about what you want to see. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE BUYING/BIDDING. Check out my other listings by clicking on See other items. PAYMENT: Buyer to notify seller within 1 day about payment plans. Contact seller about other payment options as necessary. Payment must be made within 4 days unless other arrangements have been made. SHIPPING: Please click on SHIPPING & PAYMENTS above the description for alternate pricing. Buyer to pay shipping according to the shipping calculator. International buyers: Please select your country from the drop down screen on the shipping calculator, then click GET RATES to see your shipping cost. If you see import duties listed, eBay’s GLOBAL SHIPPING will be used.
