Aug 16, 1969, original, near mint condition, unused, authenticated Woodstock Ticket in an acid-free glassine envelope with acid-free cardboard backing. The August 16th date is especially important for collectors who live in the San Francisco Bay Area because Saturday was their day. Nine bands from the Bay Area performed at Woodstock, more than from anywhere else in the world, and seven of them played on Saturday, the 16th, including Santana, whose presence was unexpected (they were not listed on the first posters), and nearly instantly catapulted the band into Superstardom. In addition, we are offering a 24 page booklet with ALL the most important facts and stories of this miraculous event! THE BOOKLET Your booklet contains: A copy of the letter written and signed by the former Sales Manager of Globe Ticket Company, George Galgay, authenticating the ticket A copy of the Certificate of Authenticity written and signed by Norman Karp (the original owner of almost all unused tickets) A brief and accurate history of the Woodstock Festival from inception to execution A complete list of bands and band members, the day and time they played, what songs they played in the order they played them, and how much they got paid Any anomalies that occurred during the sets (rain delays, fights, . . .) The wild and crazy story of how Santana, a newly-signed band with no recording contract or gigs outside the SF Bay Area, actually got on the show (think Bill Graham) HISTORY All our Woodstock Tickets were obtained some years ago from the Woodstock Conservancy who obtained them directly from Norman Karp. That puts us at 3 degrees of separation from the original owner of the tickets. (Woodstock Ventures to Norman Karp to The Woodstock Conservancy). Norman Karp, as a teenager, attended all three days of Woodstock and 12 years later, in 1981, bought the safes abandoned by Woodstock Ventures (the production group that created Woodstock) from a family friend in South Fallsburg, NY, who owned Cross Safe. Among the treasures inside were 150,000 unused tickets (the reason there were so many was because after the onslaught of people on Friday Aug. 15th tickets were no longer sold or required to attend the show), crew shirts and hats, posters, and Jimi Hendrix’s signed contract. Over the the next few years, Norman sold 30,000 tickets for $39.95 each ($1.2 million) as a mail-in through magazine ads. Many more made it to market in bulk.
