I bought my miscanthus giganteus years ago from Florida and Michigan. I wished for a good strong variety to get going here where I live. Lo and behold all these years later, I have a ton of it! Super healthy, doesn't mind drought or flood. Resilient. Does NOT spread like bamboo. Can easily split the rhizomes (roots/bulbs) to propagate even more! This "Miscanthus x giganteus" stuff sure is fun to grow! The highway department paid me a "visit" because it is so "impressive." It makes a big wall after a few years. The first year the roots establish themselves under the dirt. Year 2 you'll see significant reeds popping out. That 3rd year, boy, my miscanthus REALLY took off in a big big way- and I thought it was awesome before! Good god, what a display!
